Forest School Commences
As part of our phased opening plan, we’re pleased to be offering a six-week Forest School Transition Programme, delivered via Ofsted registered Corylus Collective, with the support of our own staff.
These sessions will help our pupils to settle gradually into school life through outdoor exploration, routines, and relationship-building.
Starting on Wednesday 1st October, Forest School will run for 6 weeks and will take place at our dedicated Forest School area within our own school grounds.
Each day will follow a rhythm of welcome and regulation, active exploration, focused activity and time for reflection. (The order and nature of activity may vary according to the children’s interests and needs as the weeks progress).
Our pupils will take part in a range of activities including:
- building dens
- a scavenger hunt
- rope and knot challenges
- fire-lighting skills (supervised)
- cooking
- stream exploration
- collaborative art
- willow craft projects
- mindfulness walks
Forest School will culminate in a special celebration event with campfire cooking.
Over the past two and a half weeks our newly recruited Conifers House staff team have been participating in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training covering topics including SEND, safeguarding and health and safety. They have also been trained in Forest School provision and are really looking forward to meeting and getting to know our pupils.
