Safeguarding and Wellbeing at Conifers House School

At Conifers House School, safeguarding and the well-being of our pupils sit at the very heart of everything we do. We are fully committed to providing the highest standards of care, safety, and protection for every child and young person entrusted to us.

We understand that our pupils’ experiences, vulnerabilities, and needs require an environment where they feel safe, listened to, and respected at all times.
Our approach is trauma-informed, nurturing, and proactive, ensuring pupils can build trusting relationships, develop emotional regulation, and feel secure both in school and the wider community.

We support all pupils by:

  • Providing a caring, safe, and predictable environment where pupils feel valued and protected.
  • Embedding safeguarding and emotional wellbeing into the fabric of daily life and curriculum.
  • Supporting pupils to build communication skills, self-esteem, confidence, and self-advocacy.
  • Proactively addressing and preventing bullying, harassment, or discrimination in all forms.
  • Promoting all aspects of the Equality Act 2010, celebrating diversity, and fostering inclusion.
  • Ensuring all staff and governors are trained in Child Protection and Safeguarding, with regular updates and reflective practice.
  • Maintaining robust systems for reporting, record keeping, and working closely with families, carers, and safeguarding partners.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility

We expect all staff, visitors, and contractors at Conifers House School to behave in ways that ensure our pupils are safeguarded at all times.
Any safeguarding concern, no matter how small, must be reported immediately to our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL).
