Pupils Enjoy Their First Equine Adventures
Pupils from Willow and Cedar classes have enjoyed their first equine adventures!
Both classes have taken trips to Westerlands Equestrian Centre, where they experienced grooming the horses and best of all riding them around the grounds!
Horse riding offers our pupils a sense of achievement, as well as an opportunity for enjoyment and to grow independence and confidence. Horse riding/interaction is widely recognised as not just a form of enrichment, but for its marked contribution to emotional and behavioural awareness and development, and also for support with physical and sensory awareness and skills.
Willow Class Teacher, Allen, said, “Pupils showed great courage and determination while learning how to ride safely and care for the horses. It has been fantastic to see confidence grow with the session, and everyone has demonstrated excellent listening skills and perseverance.”
Kathrin, Cedar Class Teacher, added, “This wonderful experience has encouraged pupils to step outside their comfort zones, helping them to develop confidence, independence and resilience. It has been fantastic to see pupils supporting one another, celebrating their achievements and showing such enthusiasm as they build new skills and overcome challenges.”
We would like to thank all the Westerlands team for enabling our pupils have so much fun during their visit to the Equestrian Centre. We can’t wait to go back again soon.
