Successful OFSTED Inspection Leads to Imminent Opening Date
We’re pleased to announce that we are celebrating a successful OFSTED inspection which gives us the green light to formally register as an SEN (Special Educational Needs) school.
The school building has been fully remodelled and refurbished and now that all the standards for an Independent SEN School have been met, we are gearing up to welcome children to school from Monday 23rd February 2026.
We cater for children aged 5 to 16 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and a wide range of complex learning profiles, including children with sensory processing needs, high anxiety, and low self-esteem. Located on Egmont Road in Midhurst, our co-educational day school provides a nurturing and highly personalised learning environment for pupils whose needs cannot be met in mainstream settings.
Our school has been developed with a strong focus on emotional wellbeing, communication, and independence. In addition to a bespoke curriculum aligned with pupils’ Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), our school will offer enriching experiences such as forest school, swimming, horse riding, and outdoor education to help build confidence and life skills.
Sir Peter Birkett, Founder of Conifers House School, said, “We have responded to the needs of the local community for SEND education by investing in the establishment of Conifers House School. Our goal is to provide the best facilities and working environment for our pupils and staff. Our brand-new staff team, who possess decades of SEN teaching and support experience between them, are ready and excited to start making a positive difference to the lives of our pupils, their families and carers.”
Georgios Chatzakis, Executive Headteacher, said, “It’s paramount that we make the whole Conifers House experience enjoyable, so our pupils and staff look forward to arriving at school every morning. We’ll help our pupils to learn at their own pace and create a setting where our pupils can increase their self-confidence and feel valued and respected.”
Catherine Miller, Headteacher, said, “The building is looking fantastic now the extensive building and renovation works have been completed. Together with our amazing new team, we’re confident that we’ve created a school where our pupils can thrive, achieve and be happy. We’re really looking forward to meeting them very soon.”
